Class Descriptions:

Kripalu/Hatha Yoga

This class explores some of the basic postures, breathing and meditation techniques that make up the practice of Hatha Yoga. This class is perfect for people new to the practice of yoga as well as for more seasoned students who want to deepen their practice. Destress, increase flexibility, heal, decrease back pain, strengthen abdominal muscles, move energy through the body, improve overall well being, and move toward bliss! Ending the class with a 10-minute relaxation with a mini leg massage.... open to all Levels. Saturdays at 10:30am & Thursday Nights at 6:30pm

 

 

 Beginner/Gentle Yoga

Faye has created a relaxing yoga class gentle enough for beginners, seniors, or anyone with special issues such as Fibromyalgia, and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Enjoy an hour of breath work, stretching and modified yoga postures, while increasing strength, flexibility, balance, circulation and overall well being. Most students experience decreased pain, and increased energy. Wednesdys at 12:00 noon

Inner Agni(Fire) Yoga/Hatha

The Agni (fire) Yoga class is an approach to yoga that seeks to tap into the unlimited energy within each being and light the spiritual fire. Through a series of yoga poses(asana), you will leave class with a stronger, more flexible body and each chakra will have been touched.  Each class begins with an opening meditation to quiet the mind, followed by a series of poses linked to the primary chakras to build strength, flexibility and balance in the body.  A period of relaxation ends the class.  Instruction may also include breath work(pranayam), mindfulness, and relaxation techniques.  All are welcome, from curious beginners who seek an introduction to yoga, to more experienced students who want to deepen their practice. ZUMBA!

Zumba® is a unique fitness program in that it doesn’t feel like a “workout.” While an hour of traditional exercise can sometimes feel like an eternity, an hour of Zumba® simply flies by! The Zumba® slogan, “Ditch the workout and join the party” couldn’t be more appropriate because every Zumba® class feels more like a dance party than a workout. No matter what your current fitness level or dance ability happens to be, everyone can Zumba®. Ballet Dance Fit!

Free Class Monday January 30th!

Increase your strength, flexibility and muscle tone as you lengthen and elongate your arms and legs like a dancer. Students will learn basic ballet, jazz, contemporary and lyrical movement in a workout setting using free weights, exercise balls, rings and weight bars. This class was designed with the incorporation dance, pilates, yoga and exercises from The New York City Ballet workout. You will leave this class standing taller and more proud as you move throughout the day with grace. Comfortable clothing recommended. Mondays 10:30-11:30am

Taught by Dana Leeds. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the University of the Arts, where she received two talent scholarships and awards for “Outstanding Jazz Dancer and Student Teacher.” She has worked with the Delaware Institute for Arts in Education, the Delaware Valley Arts Institute and the Philadelphia Arts in Education Partnership.



 
 

Prenatal Yoga Class

Celebrate the miracle of childbirth! Come and experience a Yoga class as an excellent way to maintain a strong and centered mind and body during the joys and challenges of pregnancy, labor and motherhood. Practicing Yoga in pregnancy helps mom to bond with her baby, helps to strengthen and stretch muscles, release tension and maintain good posture. Prenatal yoga also teaches you to relax on command and keep a positive outlook while clearing the mind of the stresses associated with pregnancy and life with your new baby. 

 In our classes we teach yoga exercises that help prepare you for labor, delivery and motherhood as well as breathing techniques you can use in labor. Come and connect with yourself, your baby and other moms as you embark on this exciting journey (A doctors note/permission is required & you must be at least 12 weeks pregnant to join the class)

Magical Mommy & Me!
FREE CLass Monday January 30th!
Mondays 9:30-10:15 Ages 18 months to 3 yrs.
This class gives Mom and child the opportunity to bond through creative movement, play and performance. Children will learn basic ballet movement, fine and gross-motor skills, and stretching all with the help of Mommy! Each child will develop confidence, rhythm and self awareness as they follow directions through Mommy and teacher while dancing to music. Dancing with numerous props as butterflies, trains, animals, and much more, children will use their imagination through guided discovery.
Comfortable clothing recommended, dance attire not required
Taught by Dana Leeds. INTRO to the REFORMER

 
     
 

You will be guided at your own pace through the fundamentals, and the eight progressive workouts that tone your hips and legs, abs, back, shoulders and arms. This class is required for every new student. You will learn the fundementals, breathing techniques, and get comfortable on the pilates equipment so we can assess your level, design your program, and place you in the correct semi-private class to fit your individual needs.

     

Stretch & Flexibility Program

 
   

Improve muscle flexibility and range of motion as well as tone
your whole body. Guarenteed to increase mobility and help you feel loose and relaxed.

 
   
 

Lower Body Program

 
     

This session begins with legs, abs and back. Then moves to hips
and butt, progresses to shoulders/arms and finishes with legs, hips and butt. A great Workout for Killer Abs.

Target your abs, back shoulders, chest, biceps and triceps with a series
of routines that challenge upper body strength and endurance.

Definitely the hardest session you can take. This 1 1/2 hour session keeps the heart rate up while demanding strength. You will sweat your way through sequences which are organized to maintain the challenge! Must be advanced and comfortable with Pilates II classes. Please cancel classes  8 hours in advance or you will be charged for that class. (24 hours is preferrable)

What to expect, what to bring (FAQ’s)

Most people don't know what to expect in their first class. This is normal. The following pointers may answer some of your questions about what to expect and what to bring when you come to Art & Soul Yoga. If we’ve missed anything you’re curious about, feel free to call or email with questions. We’d love to talk to you!

Will everyone be better than I am?

You’ll be fine. We welcome students of all ages and abilities, so you’ll find a wide range of people in our classes, each working at their own level. We all start somewhere, and you’re welcome at Art & Soul Yoga no matter what your experience level is.

What if I can’t do everything the teacher asks us to do?

Learning is a process. We learn best by doing, and our classes are designed to introduce you to new things over time. The teacher is a guide, but the student learns what she’s ready to learn when she’s ready to learn it. Our teachers will offer variations for many postures so everyone can experience them at an appropriate level.

What should I bring?

Bring your own yoga mat and a small pillow for relaxation at the end of class. Many students bring a water bottle and a towel.

What should I wear?

Wear clothing that allows a full range of motion. That could be form-fitting athletic clothes or loose-fitting sweats and a t-shirt. Whatever works for you.

Should I eat before class?

We recommend not eating a heavy meal within two hours before class. It's also a good idea to drink plenty of water earlier in the day so your body is well hydrated during class.

When should I get there?

Classes start promptly at their scheduled time so please arrive ten to fifteen minutes early to check in and get settled. If you arrive late, please wait outside the practice room until the teacher motions you to come in.

Postpartum Massage – Postpartum Massage is designed to help restore the new mother’s body to the pre-pregnancy state, to tone the overstretched abdominal skin, and to help revive the mother’s emotional state. The new mom needs and deserves to be pampered, and our Postpartum Massage Treatment is the right choice. Postpartum Massages are usually given from when the doctor says okay until six to nine months after the birth.
